At La Cumbre Plaza Focuses

on Family Resources

More than 100 local businesses and nonprofits will participate in the annual KidsExpo at La Cumbre Plaza, 121 S. Hope Ave. on Saturday, March 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Hope School District Educational Foundation’s first annual community 5K Walk/Run and Kids Mile Fun Run will kick off this annual ParentClick and La Cumbre Plaza co-hosted event. Parents will have access to information on the many programs and activities available in Santa Barbara to families with newborns to teens that includes everything from camps, classes, sports to fitness, education, nonprofit volunteer  opportunities and more. Plus, in support of the Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation, there’ll be a Bone Marrow Drive to help find donor matches. Last but not least, to keep the fun aspect of the event on a high note, there will also be a variety of interactive activities and entertainment. 12th Annual Barbara Ireland

      Walk for Breast Cancer Research

On Saturday morning, March 16, at Chase Palm Park, more than 500 runners and walkers are expected to join in the effort to fight breast cancer by participating in the 13th Annual Walk for Breast Cancer Research hosted by Barbara Ireland and her family and the Cancer Center of Santa Barbara  – to which 100 percent of the proceeds go. Rain or shine, registration is from 7 to 8:30 a.m. at Chase Palm Park Pavilion; at 8 a.m. Barbara Ireland welcomes the participants, followed by a warm-up; and at 8:30 a.m. the 10K walk/run course begins with new 5K and 15K added this year. At 10:30 a.m. after the walk enjoy a lunch, raffle, live music and the “gspa zone” to rest and rejuvenate. Pre-registration has started and continues through the  morning of the event, and the fee is waived for participants who raise $100 in pledges. Pre-registration packets can be picked up on Friday, March 15 from noon to 6 p.m. at the Cancer Center of Santa Barbara, 540 W.
